Sydney Kay Barnwell

Where Narrative, Leadership, and Impact Meet.

I’m Sydney Kay Barnwell. I’m a strategic communications leader, community convener, public speaker, and narrative strategist working at the intersection of climate justice, narrative power, and mindful living. Through public speaking, facilitation, and storytelling, I create spaces for meaningful dialogue around equity, resilience, advocacy, and collective wellbeing. I help mission-driven organizations, movements, advocates, entrepreneurs, and brands shape stories that mobilize people, build trust, and create real-world impact while staying rooted in integrity, humanity, and long-term vision.

My work lives in the spaces where strategy meets soul, where systems change meets nervous system care, and where storytelling becomes a tool for collective healing, power-building, and cultural shift.

Over the past decade, I’ve led communications and community engagement efforts across advocacy coalitions, nonprofit organizations, and public-facing campaigns throughout Connecticut and beyond. My background includes building multi-stakeholder coalitions, shaping legislative narratives, supporting workforce and climate justice initiatives, designing public education campaigns, and translating complex policy into accessible, human-centered messaging that resonates across diverse audiences.

At the same time, I’ve built a parallel body of work in mindfulness, embodied leadership, and media storytelling. I create spaces for people to reconnect with their voice, their values, and their nervous systems in a world that often rewards urgency, burnout, and performative success. I believe sustainable leadership requires both external strategy and internal regulation. You cannot build healthy systems if the people inside them are constantly dysregulated, disconnected, or depleted.

This dual lens informs everything I create, from consulting engagements and keynote stages to digital courses, community gatherings, and media projects. Whether I’m advising an organization on narrative strategy, facilitating a leadership workshop, hosting a mindful media segment, or building curriculum, the goal is the same: clarity, alignment, trust, and meaningful momentum.

I’m also deeply shaped by diaspora identity, intergenerational storytelling, travel, and community-centered living. Much of my creative work explores what it means to build soft power, generational wealth, cultural continuity, and joyful resilience, especially for communities historically excluded from traditional power structures.

Today, my work spans multiple platforms and ventures, including strategic consulting, speaking and facilitation, digital education, and independent media projects. Rather than separating these identities, I treat them as an ecosystem, each strengthening the other.

If you’re here because you’re building something that matters, a movement, an organization, a platform, or a vision for your life, you’re in the right place. I’m glad you found your way here.

I’m always open to aligned opportunities for speaking, facilitation, strategic consulting, partnerships, media collaborations, and community-centered projects that create meaningful and lasting impact.
